What CatchTime knows — and does not know — about you.
Last updated · April 20, 2026
Overview
CatchTime is a private fishing almanac. Spots, outing logs, notes, species, and the forecast cache live on your device. There is no account to create and no server that mirrors your logbook.
What the app reads
- Location — used to calculate the bite-window forecast, weather, tide, daylight, and moon context for a chosen spot.
- Outing logs — trip outcome, time on water, fish count, species, and notes you choose to enter.
- Purchase status — read through Apple's StoreKit APIs to unlock CatchTime Pro.
- Anonymous usage signals — feature interaction counts, opt-in and disabled from Settings at any time.
- Crash data — used only to diagnose reliability issues.
What the app never sends
Exact coordinates, spot names, notes, species information, photos, email, and Apple ID are not included in any analytics, ever. They do not leave the device.
Weather and tide
Weather forecasts are requested from Apple WeatherKit using the coordinates of the selected spot. Tide predictions use NOAA CO-OPS station data where a supported station is within range.
Your controls
- Deny or revoke location permission in iOS Settings — the app falls back to manual map pins.
- Opt out of product interaction analytics from CatchTime Settings.
- Delete every local record (spots, logs, notes, forecast cache, settings) from CatchTime Settings.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings.
